The #1 Non Toxic Label remover Secret …
Peanut Butter !
I did not really discover this. I have to give credit to my dad who, after my brother (he was such a brat!) put gum in my hair when we were kids, put a glob of Peanut Butter in it, worked it around a bit and the gum slid right out! No hairs were harmed, no scissor needed! I was so relieved !
Fast foreward to my adulthood. I was trying to get a really stubborn label off of an acrylic box I bought for a project and I could not find where my husband left the GooGone. Also, If you have ever put Goo Gone or other solvents on clear things like plastic or acrylic, you know it breaks down the acrylic and leaves your beautiful piece with a cloudy spot that you can’t get rid of… Ruining the piece! I was not really wanting to use it.
I was working on this post “Trending Design 2017 – Agates Rock !“
There was a horrible label on this lovely acrylic box that would not come off!
Can you see the gunk?
Racking my brain, and with a stubborn label, I finally had this epiphany… Peanut Butter! I grabbed the jar from the pantry, smeared a layer on the box and just left it while I did something else.
It does take a while for the peanut Butter to soak in and break down the glue but I don’t have to worry about it with the girls like I do with Goo Gone. I am so paranoid they are going to get ahold of the bottle or lick even a drop of the toxic Concoction!
After an hour or so I came back with a paper towel and just rubbed it all away!
No Blurr on the finish, no glue residue, no toxic mess to concern myself with, no worry about ruining the finish on my butcher block or table!
Next time you are in a fix for a Label remover or you just can’t find yours, grab your Peanut Butter! Remember….It works for gum in the hair as well ! (Brothers! Right?)
I hope this helps you next time your in need of a solvent or label remover! If you know of some others, Please share! Comment Below cause we all want to know!
See ya soon!
