Then lightning struck!
I also got a great idea. If you follow me you already know I have a habit of wandering around places like H.Depot and Michaels just to get an idea of what’s out there and see if any ideas hit me out of the blue. I remembered seeing these Geode Slice Pendants in the jewelry section at Michaels. They were especially pretty due to the silver edging ! They only had one pink and one blue at my nearby store. I headed home thinking how far away the next Michaels was when I remembered they sell online as well. I really hit the lottery there. Not only did they have the necessary amount of pink I needed but they were on sale! Regularly $7.99 marked down to $4.79 ! Cha Ching $$$ !!!! (they still are as of the publishing of this post!). HERE
Only Half the Battle
Now all I needed were the metal rings themselves. I also remembered seeing some very small bracelet findings at Hobby Lobby in their jewelry section. They were very small like for children and at the time I thought they would make great napkin rings if I ever wanted to do that. I was in a rush now though, reveal deadline looming and all… and since I had to go to Pier One, I grabbed some really cool wide hand hammered style rings for about $2.89 each while there. That makes them $7.92 each! (not saying cha ching again today!) That’s tax free on Michaels as it was online.
That’s Pretty AND Simple! (see pics below!)
I used a muffin pan to keep the metal rings from rolling. I was going to use the solder gun but I opted for this really awesome glue instead! It held them on the second I placed them, which was important for them to not slide off the side of the ring till they dried! I needed them to stay put immediately but not like instant glue that you can not work with. Loctite Go2 Gel is not super glue, which I hate, but a gel glue, so nothing moves but you can reposition it if you want too! This Go2 Gel Glue was so neat and workable! It dried fast and is really strong! It has incredible hold! I am now in a long term relationship with this Loctite Go2 Gel! Awesome!!!
I needed to clip off the little pendant attachment from the Geode Slice so I used my husbands diagonal cutters to do this. They were a bit too large and I could not get quite close enough to get a clean cut so I had to quickly file the sharp little edge it left behind with a metal nail file. If I had taken the time to dig out my small diagonal cutters, I would have been able to get close for a clean clip and able to skip the nail file. Be sure to dab a bit of clear nail polish where you clipped if your Geodes are gilt. This will seal it so it does not peel.
Viola! On trend Geode Slice Napkin Ring !
